Filmmaker. Collaborator.

I am Jonathan Purnell, a student at UW-Madison, majoring in Communication arts with a focus on Radio, Television, and Film. I enjoy creating and collaborating with others on various projects, especially when I do both simultaneously. I have done multiple short projects through the Digital Cinema Production Certificate, where I have worked with others to create various creative projects.

Cooperation and teamwork are essential to me; they bring the best out of what I bring to the table. When working with others, I often try my best to work with others and find solutions to problems, and some of the best ideas are frequently made with the collaboration of others. I want the things I work on to represent the work and effort behind it, as making things that are not only quality but also creative and fun. I try my best to be as understanding and helpful as possible when working with others, as making sure projects run smoothly and are enjoyable for everyone is just as important as the end goal. Ensuring a cooperative and pleasant work environment makes a higher quality, creative product.

I want to do more cinematography, directing, and producing in the future, as I enjoy stylish and striking visuals and performances. Some of my favorite directors and films that I am often inspired by are, but are not limited to, John Carpenter (The Thing, 1982), Sam Raimi (Evil Dead Trilogy), the Coen Brothers (The Big Lebowski, 1998), and many more.
